Product Description

Level Quarter Turns are attached to both ends of the handrail. Use handrail brackets to attach your handrail to the wall.

The proper manufacturing process for this part calls for some color and grain variation between the handrail piece and the level quarter turn pieces on the ends (to view example of this, click on additional images).

6010 Colonial Handrail is 2 1/4” at its widest point & 2 3/8” at its tallest point. The 6010 is the industry standard, and is used in more stairways in North America than any other handrail. 6010 has a soft profile that is easy to install and easy to use with fittings.

Rarely, in some species joints will be necessary in longer handrails. Joints are always done with color and grain match as the priority.

Wood Grain & Color Variation

At StairSuppliesTM we strive to match the grain and color of all of our wood products as closely as possible. However, due to the natural character of wood products, there may be instances in which a perfect grain and color match is not possible. By ordering from StairSuppliesTM, you acknowledge that there may be some variation in the grain and color of your wood products.

Looking for level quarter turn handrail including 2 quarter turns – one at each end for affixing to wall. Total length 13′. Do I order the 13′ level quarter turn and there will be a turn at each end? Or do I need to specify something other to get the turn on both ends?

Julia, Thank you for contacting us. If you need a 13′ level quarter turn handrail, all you would need to do is order it in the 13′ length from the drop-down menu. This will provide you with a level quarter turn at both ends with a total length of 13′.

Thank you for your question, Ronald. We actually over-size the returns to be about 4-5 inches. It is designed this way to be trimmed on site to your specific situation.

Sonoma county building code says, “handgrip required”. It specifies a perimeter dimension between 4″ and 6.25″. This seems to relate to a requirement to shape the cross section of the handrail, so that it is easy to ‘get a grip’. I have been encouraged to ‘get-a-grip’ all my life, but (in the context of handrails) what does this actually mean ? And does the 6010 comply?

Hi Steve,

Good question. The 6610 handrail was specifically designed to code friendly handrail in our product offering. However, we still recommend checking in with a local code inspector before purchasing the 6610, or any other handrail. Please let us know if you have any further questions!

I just added a 12-1/2’ rail. Does it come with mounting brackets or do I have to buy separately?

Thanks for the question Fernando.

The handrail does not come with any brackets, but you can see several bracket options in the “Suggested Products” box in the lower left column on the handrail product page – or just search the site.

how do you handle long 6010 handrail pieces for shipping? I’m looking at one that needs to be 14′ in length

Thanks for the question Larry.

Anything up to 8′ in length can go with a normal ground carrier like FedEx. Longer pieces, like a 14′ 6010 handrail would be packed in a class 85 freight box and and shipped via R+L Carriers. If you live on a cul-de-sac or someplace with limited access, you should add that to the note on your order so they can figure out the best way to get it to you.
